I have a 2011 BMW 128i that I love. Unfortunately, rodents got inside my engine compartment and chewed through a bunch of wires. Cutting Edge completed MORE work on my car (than originally identified by the dealer) for $650 LESS than the dealer "starting price" quote! For the exact work quoted by the dealer, Cutting Edge completed the work for $1000 LESS THAN THE DEALER QUOTE! On top of that, they were absolutely wonderful to work with - very honest, open and hardworking. I was impressed with the mechanic's experience and knowledge from working on BMWs (with a dealership) for 20 years. Amazing people, top-notch quality, fast service! I am so pleased to have found a shop with a home-town mechanic's ethics and morals, and quality of work to compete with the best of them! I would highly recommend Cutting Edge, especially for BMWs. For anyone who wants more details: I had worked with Santa Fe BMW (the dealer) in the past while my car was under warranty so I first took my car to them. They told me I would have to pay a diagnostic fee for one hour to assess the damage. When I went to pick it up, they told me the mechanic had "accidentally" spent 8 hours working on my car (not possible because of when when I dropped it off) and wanted to charge me extra for the labor. I was firm that I had only OK'ed 1 hour of work so luckily I didn't have to pay extra, but I bet they get a lot of other people to fall for that and get some easy extra money! Anyway, they gave me a quote to repair the rodent damage of ±$1,200 "to start" (meaning the actual repairs would likely be higher, by how much is anyone's guess). Needless to say I was concerned. I originally went to the dealer because BMW prides themselves on customer services but this interaction, and other previous questionable dealings with the dealer, destroyed my trust in them and left me feeling misused and swindled. I needed another option. I found Cutting Edge online and was impressed by all their positive reviews. I gave Carlos a call and was impressed again at how honest, straightforward and accommodating he was. When I brought my car in, he had the mechanic look at it right away. I agreed to the diagnostic fee, but what was really amazing about the diagnosis was the mechanic started the repair work DURING the diagnosis; the work was included in the diagnostic fee so I didn't have to pay more! Wow! Amazing! During the diagnostic, he found additional issues the dealer either found and was saving to tell me later and increase the cost, or didn't find. (Sidenote: not sure how Cutting Edge managed to find these items in about two hours but Santa Fe BMW didn't find them during the "8 hours" they were diagnosing my car.) The extra items included oxygen sensors that had shorted out when chewed-through wires touched each other and a chewed-through exhaust sensor wire. Cutting Edge managed to completely repair all the elements the dealer found for $200 (remember the dealer wanted to charge $1,200) - Cutting Edge saved me $1,000 off the dealer price! Then they fixed the other issues they found and my final total was around $550 (including the $200 above). I am so grateful for the Cutting Edge team's sensitivity to cost and their dedication to doing the best thing for the car. Thank you all! I'll be a repeat customer for sure (although hopefully not for anything else serious!)!
